Safety when handling Neodymium magnets

  • Users of heart pacemakers should never handle strong magnets
  • Keep away from magnetic strips on credit/bank cards
  • Be aware when placing two magnets together as the sudden attraction can easily trap fingers
  • Neodymium magnets should never be given to children
  • Neodymium magnets are hard and brittle and may shatter if allowed to `jump together or on to a metal surface so join with care
  • It is recommended that aye and hand protection should be worn
  • Do not bring magnets within 12”/300mm of a magnetic storage device such as computers, hard drives, floppy discs, cassette tapes, credit cards
  • Never travel on an aircraft without first declaring the magnets
